  • A wrapping of about Pure Wool around the Organic Cotton layered core.

Care:

Before folding up for storage, give your Shikibuton a few quick shakes. A few times a year, refresh your Shikibuton with fresh air on an overcast day (direct sunlight can break down latex over time); it can easily be draped over a porch or deck railing. If keeping your Shikibuton in use for an extended period of time, alternately flip (turning it over) and rotate (head to foot) every few months for even wear. Spot clean only.

The Shikibuton is designed to rest on a breathable surface. We recommend placing it atop a slatted bed frame or, if placed on the floor, a roll of slats.  Make sure your mattress has what it needs for proper support.

Care

Sunning your comforter periodically will keep it refreshed and revitalize the wool. Spot clean as needed. Treat stains by soaking area with hydrogen peroxide (note, this may cause lightening of fabric). Can be machined washed in cold water. Manually set to soak and spin cycles only. Do not use the wash cycle, which agitates and can ruin your comforter. For stained items, add a dose of live cultured enzymes (such as Bac-Out by Biokleen) during soak. Drape in the sun or warm place to dry. Do not wring or machine dry. Our comforter care video will guide you through a few simple steps that will keep your wool bedding feeling soft and cozy for years to come. Place in a washable duvet cover for extra protection.

The scent of wool – Our wool, both natural and organic, is cleaned and processed naturally without the use of harsh chemicals. That’s why you may notice the mild sweet scent of sunny farm pastures when you receive your new wool product. The wool retains 1% of the naturally occurring lanolin oil, which helps condition the fibers and keep them fluffy and soft for years to come. Most customers find the scent dissipates within a few days.

Sleeping on the Green Cotton and Wool Boulder Dreamton Mattress

The Boulder Dreamton is a mattress without springs, and as such won’t transfer motion between sleepers. We recommend putting it on a box spring set or platform bed, or even using it as a floor bed. A slatted bed frame is recommended for air circulation and the slats should be at least 2.5″ wide and no more than 2″ apart from each other.  When the slats are more than 2″ apart, that may affect the longevity and comfort of your mattress.  Firm and supportive, the Boulder Dreamton offers our firmest feel, in healthy and non-toxic materials you can feel good about curling up against.

A soaring heart futon is the ideal mattresses for anyone who prefers a soft yet supportive bed or is trying to better utilize their space. The futon can fold into a couch or lounger, which makes them perfect for studios, small apartments, multipurpose rooms, or a healthy and comfy guest bed.  Soaring Heart’s futon works wonderfully in a sofa set-up. The latex core reduces creasing where the futon folds, which can make futons less comfortable for sleeping.

Dimensions & Care

At full, original loft, the layers of cotton, latex, and wool that make up each Soaring Heart futon measure 24” tall, give or take, only compressing down to the more familiar seven inches after passing through the skilled hands of Soaring Heart craftspeople. Once slept on for a while, your new organic futon will settle down to six or seven inches.

You can expect your new organic futon to last you anywhere from eight to fifteen years, depending upon how well you maintain it. Futons require occasional flipping so that they wear evenly. This reduces body impressions, which can make a futon less comfortable over time.

This mattress is handcrafted in Soaring Heart’s own certified organic Seattle workshop, and made from Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) certified latex, which is the only 100% organic latex in the world.

Soaring Heart uses zero chemicals in their mattresses. The latex is made from pure rubber tree sap and has organic wool as a fire barrier certified by GOLS partner agency the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), the most trusted third party certifier in the industry. Exact life expectancy is dependent on factors such as usage, regular flipping and rotating, and exposure to moisture. Due to the nature of White Lotus’s raw, minimally processed fibers, the item’s age may affect its qualification for our warranty.
